Oak Hill School was founded in 2000 by a group of dedicated parents who had tired of witnessing their children, all of whom had developmental learning challenges like autism, fail in public and private schools. Determined to create a learning environment that integrated social, emotional and sensory supports into the classroom, and that fostered collaboration among a child’s many caregivers, these parents recognized the need for a new specialized center for their children and others like them. The group rapidly acquired a four-acre property in Marin, hired a faculty and, in less than a year, opened the doors of the school.
Since then, Oak Hill has grown to our site capacity of 26 students. Children ages 6 to 19 attend Oak Hill from six counties around the Bay Area; two-thirds are placed by their local school districts.
