San Anselmo, March 14, 2017: Oak Hill's Departments of Mathematics and Culinary Science teamed up to bake and sell a wide selection of delectable pastries to celebrate Pi Day, 3.14.
On Pi-Minus-0.01 Day (3.13), students and staff in Prep East assembled and baked nearly a dozen apple, pumpkin, blueberry, strawberry-rhubarb and fresh strawberry pies to be sold on the next day at $3.14/ slice.
Prep East students spent last summer learning food safety procedures, knife skills and kitchen hygiene standards, and they put that knowledge to use to create a gorgeous selection of delicious desserts. Some customers came back for seconds!
Students selected Oak Hill School to receive all proceeds from their Pi Day Pie Sale. After the final accounting, senior Sophia Plaugher and sophomore Jay Tu presented Oak Hill finance director Mike Reilly with their net amount of $230.21 in cash and checks.
Many thanks go out to our customers, with special thanks to those who "tipped"!
Very special thanks also to our Pi Day Donors' "CIRCLE" (pun intended) for their cash and in-kind donations of pie ingredients:
Ginger Tulley & Michael LoBue
If you made an ingredients donation and find that we have inadvertently omitted your name from this exclusive "circle," please accept our apologies.
