The annual fundraiser, Stand UP! "A Night of Hidden Stars"

We are very grateful for the sponsors of Stand Up! who helped make this event possible!

The attendees were awestruck by the entertainment that evening!  Since April was Autism Awareness month, it was quite fitting that the “Hidden Stars” who performed were young adults on the autism spectrum.

Oak Hill parent and world renowned pianist, Stephen Prutsman, booked the performers and organized the events entertainment.  Stephen started us off with his own jaw dropping performance of “Hungarian Rhapsody” on a beautiful grand piano.  Stephen was followed by Alice Jen, who was introduced by her mother because Alice is non-verbal.  Alice played “Un Sospiro” on the piano and you could have heard a pin drop; there wasn’t a dry eye in the house by the time Alice finished playing.

Former Oak Hill Student, Will Hansen, got everyone movin’ and groovin’ by playing piano and singing along with his very entertaining music video of the Steely Dan song, “FM”. Bernard Smith played piano and sang, John Lennon’s, “Let it Be”.  Bernard was pitch perfect and flawless on the piano! The final performance of the evening was from the band the Dream Achievers, comprised of Alice Jen on piano, Lawrence Wang on sax and Gregory Herbert on guitar.  They played a 5 song set, ending with “We Are the World”. The audience was swaying to the music with there smart phone lights on.

It was an inspiring evening and I think our guests were blown away by the quality of the performances that they were treated to over the course of the evening.  Many of our guests who have attended multiple OHS STAND UP! events in the past, stated this was the best one yet.  I agree!

In addition to the wonderful entertainment, we received a great response from our Fund-a-Need appeal.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of our guests, we raised over $50,000 covering our Art, Drama and Music Therapy programs for an entire year. THANK YOU!!
